This interactive presentation reveals the primary factors that drive female financial precarity and why it’s vital to coordinate Social Security benefits with spouses to maximize your monthly checks.

A landmark survey of 2,000+ households in a Social Security-sponsored panel found that only four percent (4%) of Americans optimize their Social Security election. An incredible 96% of retirees make a sub-optimal choice when filing for benefits, leaving over $100,000 in unclaimed benefits over their lifetime.

No More Curse! A History of the Red Sox – VIRTUAL

Did you miss it? Watch a recording HERE.

Take me out to the ballgame with one of our favorite speakers, David Kruh! Based on his research for his musical, David takes us to the roots of Boston baseball, when, just like today, the team captured the hearts of the people of Boston. We will look back at the real story behind Harry Frazee and his sale of slugger Babe Ruth. Relive the (sometimes frustrating) saga of the Boston Red Sox and their ultimately successful struggle for a World Series championship.

Learn more about David’s Musical: The Curse is Reversed! (A musical tribute to the Red Sox).

About the Author:

David Kruh is a former New Yorker and a 1978 graduate of the University of Maryland. While earning his Masters in Computer Engineering at Boston University, David worked as an engineer at WRKO Radio. He has also worked full time as a copywriter, computer programmer, radio producer, radio engineer and, for a few years in the mid-1990s, as a spokesman and web master for the Big Dig. He retired a few years ago from a semiconductor manufacturer, where he was the Direct Marketing Manager. He is also the author of several other books, notably two on Boston’s Scollay Square and Building Route 128. David’s most recent book is Inseparable.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library and is a collaboration with a multitude of MA Libraries.

Film Screening: “We’re All Plastic People Now”

In recognition of Earth Day, join us for a screening of the documentary We’re All Plastic People Now, made available by South Florida PBS. This documentary, just shy of one hour, investigates the hidden story of plastic and its effects on human health (PBS.org).

After the film, join a Q&A and discussion with Andrea LaCroix from Beyond Plastics and the founders of SFS to learn further about the impacts of plastic and how to reduce individual plastic use.

This program is offered in cooperation with Striving for Sustainability (SFS), a Rowley-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering our community to adopt sustainable lifestyle practices that protect and preserve the environment for current and future generations.
