Friends seek three officers/board members to keep organization viable
If you’ve ever wondered what you could do to make a difference in your community, now’s the time! The Friends of the Rowley Public Library need three officers to fill open board seats for the 2017-2018 fiscal year, beginning July 1. Tim Young and Karen Herrick will be stepping down as President and Treasurer, respectively. Sieglinde Aigner-Crooks, Secretary, has announced her candidacy to run for President, thereby leaving the Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President (currently unfilled) seats open. The board operates as the administrative arm of the Friends, overseeing the group’s fundraising and volunteer activities, and maintaining the organization’s 501(c)3 charitable status.
Without a fully functioning board, that tax status as a charity – and the future viability of the Friends itself  – could be in jeopardy.
Many of the library’s most valued programs are made possible with the support of the Friends, including the Summer Reading Program, discounted Museum passes, weekly yoga classes, a Book Club, lawn care, and much, much more. Meetings currently are held six times a year. If you are interested in running for any of the open positions, please attend the Annual Meeting of the Friends on Wednesday, June 14th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Local History Room at the library. Email  friends@rowleylibrary.org for more information.
