Continue the celebration of Thoreau’s birthday bicentennial! Dr. John Kaag, from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, was a young philosophy professor adrift in his marriage and career when he happened upon the Hocking library in New Hampshire, full of priceless works by America’s early philosophers that had been left to molder away. The discovery led him to a new sense of self and transformed his notions about life through the tenets of American philosophy—self-reliance, pragmatism, and transcendence. Join us as he discusses his discoveries and the role wisdom can play in all our lives on Monday, Nov. 6, at 7pm.
